Licensing Categories


  1. Qualifying Party  (Associated with a business)

  2. Qualified Applicator  (QP not associated with a business)

  3. Certified applicator  (May work under supervision of QP)

  4. Registered Applicator (Must register with OPM before applying pesticides)


QA Broadening Experience Exemptions

  1. QA in ROW, if QA in Industrial & Structural, Termite or T&O

  2. QA in Turf & Ornamental, if QA in Industrial & Structural, Termite or ROW

  3. QA in Termite if, QA in Industrial & Structural

  4. QA in Wood Preservation if, QA in Termite

QP Requirements

  1. Must be physically present at primary business office at least every 14 days

  2. Must be physically present at branch office at least every 120 days

 Continuing Education

  1. Certified Applicator needs 6 hours per year, or 12 hours per two years

  2. QA needs 12 hours per year, or 24 hours per two years

  3. Excess CEU hours do not carry over to next renewal period

Landscaper Exemption 

A landscaper is exempt from licensing unless they:

  1. Use herbicides that are restricted, or sterilants or preemergent herbicides

  2. Offers weed management as the primary service

  3. Uses application equipment that holds more than 4 gallons (same day)

  4. Uses more than 25 pounds of a non-liquid herbicide at address (same day)

  5. Uses a crew of more than 2 on same day, same address or project

  6. Uses herbicide at a school

  7. Uses herbicide without performing lawn, garden, shrub or tree maintenance

Metro Institute has created a new feature for our Arizona OPM clients.  All of our exams can now be Scheduled Online. Browse the Calendar to find the right date and time for you then just click schedule online.  All major credit cards are accepted through Paypal. This system will streamline the process of scheduling for the individual and companies that need to register multiple sessions at once.
